Doug Kennedy has spent over 30 years of his life in the construction industry, joining Johnson & Galyon in 2001. Before beginning his career, Kennedy was a student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He graduated with Honors from UT in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture.

Throughout his career he has been a part of numerous notable projects, including: Mercy Medical Center North, additions and renovations to Neyland Stadium, Whittle Communications Corporate Building (now the Howard Baker Federal Courthouse), Dover Downs Hotel & Convention Center (Dover, DE), renovations at Rockefeller Center in New York City, and the renovation and restoration of Ayres Hall – landmark structure at the University of Tennessee Campus.

Since 1983, he has been a registered architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He currently serves on the College of Architecture’s Board of Advisors at the University of Tennessee.

Doug is also an active member of the community and on a number of boards and committees, including: Emerald Youth Foundation, where he serves as Chairman of the Board, Knoxville Area Chamber of Commerce, Alcoa Community Foundation, U.T. Graduate School of Medicine Board of Visitors, and is serving on the 2011 United Way Campaign Cabinet. He is a graduate of the Leadership Knoxville Class of 2003.

Doug and his wife, Vicky, have three children – Justin, Kristin and Ryan.
