A long time member of the Johnson & Galyon team, Jim Bush currently serves as Chairman of the Board. He has spent nearly his entire career with Johnson & Galyon, joining the company in 1964.  Bush is a University of Tennessee graduate, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1959 and a former licensed engineer with the State of Tennessee.  Before joining Johnson & Galyon, he was on active duty with the United States Navy Reserve.

Having spent 45 years with Johnson & Galyon, Bush has been a part of many of the company’s notable projects. These include: Episcopal Church of the Ascension, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, First Baptist Church of Knoxville, Knoxville Utilities Board Headquarters, Knoxville Civic Coliseum, Boys & Girls Club of Knoxville and Cherokee Country Club.

Jim is a very active in the community and has been honored with a number of awards.  He received the Knoxville Region Humanitarian Award in 2003, was honored by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers with their Distinguished Service Award and is a member of the East Tennessee Business Hall of Fame.  Jim has served on a number of boards, including East Tennessee Children’s Hospital- Chariman Emaritus, Knoxville Boys & Girls Clubs- an Honorary Board member and actively involved with the First Tee program at Williams Creek.  He is an active member at First Baptist Church in Knoxville.

He and his wife, Mary, have three daughters – Ellen Fowler, Susan Bacon and Jamie Litton, along with seven grandchildren.
